Best Bulk SMS Provider in Uganda 2026: Honest Comparison of 8 Platforms
Independent 2026 comparison of EgoSMS, MegaSMS, Wesendall, Advanta, CraneSMS, Africa's Talking, Yo! Uganda and MTN. Pricing, MoMo support, API quality, delivery.
There's no single "best" bulk SMS provider in Uganda — the right pick depends on whether you're a school, a fintech, an NGO, or a developer team. This guide scores eight providers across the things that actually matter: price, MoMo support, API quality, dashboard UX, and support.
How we scored
Each platform gets a 1–5 rating on:
- Price (lower per-SMS = higher score)
- Mobile Money (full MTN + Airtel = 5, none = 1)
- API quality (REST + docs + webhooks = 5)
- Dashboard UX (modern, no engineering required = 5)
- Support (Kampala-based phone = 5)

(Twilio is excluded — at UGX 900+/SMS for Uganda outbound it's not in the same category as Ugandan providers.)
Wesendall — best for SMB teams who want SMS + email + a real API
The newest entrant, built in Kampala. Wesendall ships SMS + transactional email + contact management in a single wallet, with a modern dashboard and a clean REST API that the dashboard itself uses.
Why pick it: you want SMS plus email under one wallet, a modern UI for non-technical staff, and an API for your developers without paying USD.
Why skip it: if you only need SMS and you're committed to the cheapest per-message rate at huge volumes, Advanta or EgoSMS may shave a few shillings.
EgoSMS — the established Uganda market leader
The most-searched bulk SMS brand in Uganda. Long-running, reliable, MoMo-funded, strong school customer base.
Why pick it: brand recognition and the comfort of a long track record.
Why skip it: the dashboard hasn't seen a major refresh in years; the API exists but isn't the strongest documentation in the market.

MegaSMS — strong on schools and churches verticals
MegaSMS owns the long-form vertical content for schools, churches and SACCOs. Their pricing pages are explicit by industry, and their content marketing is deep.
Why pick it: you're a school administrator who wants a provider already "thinking about" your workflow.
Why skip it: Email + API + modern dashboard aren't strengths. Volume rates are quoted on request rather than published.

Advanta SMS — pan-African operator with sharp pricing
Operates across Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania. Pricing is competitive (UGX 25–30 in volume) and the platform is solid. Web + mobile apps.
Why pick it: if you operate in multiple East African countries.
Why skip it: less Kampala-specific support presence than purely local providers.
CraneSMS — trusted long-time Ugandan name
Has been in the Uganda SMS market for years. Decent platform, fair pricing, phone support.
Why pick it: if you've worked with them before and inertia matters.
Why skip it: newer providers ship better dashboards and APIs.
Africa's Talking — the developer-first platform
The pan-African dev platform of choice. REST APIs across SMS, USSD, Voice, Airtime, Payments. USD-denominated.
Why pick it: developer team shipping across multiple African markets with non-SMS needs (USSD, Voice, Airtime).
Why skip it: for Uganda-only SMS at UGX rates with Mobile Money, a local provider is cleaner and cheaper after forex + card fees.

Yo! Uganda — fintech-leaning aggregator
Pioneer of SMS + Mobile Money aggregation in Uganda. Strong fintech positioning. Enterprise-style relationship, negotiated pricing.
Why pick it: mid-size fintech or financial-services org wanting an incumbent aggregator relationship.
Why skip it: SMB teams will find the negotiation overhead heavy for the volumes involved.
MTN Bulk SMS — direct on-net for enterprises
The MTN business product. Direct on-net delivery, premium SLA, premium price.
Why pick it: bank, government department, large corporate needing direct operator relationships.
Why skip it: for everyone else, an aggregator is cheaper and more ergonomic.
